ST. AUSTIN’S PLAYERS
Box Office

St. Austin’s Players came into being in 1991 as a way of raising the funds for the restoration of St. Austin’s Church. Catherine Barber, church organist and long standing parishioner encouraged parish members, young and old, to put on the show “Pirates of Penzance”. The cast had so much fun that they vowed to carry on with more shows, and here we still are 25 years later, still going strong.

Since our beginnings Players have gone on to do productions of Oliver (twice), The Wizard of Oz, The King and I as well as several popular pantomimes. There have been some great memories and friendships made which will last for many years to come.

The Players have been an essential part of the local community, helping to develop a love for the arts within the you people, with some of the original cast of Pirates going on to perform with Huddersfield Choral society and at the Royal Albert Hall!

Thanks to the stage experience the Players have given the, students have been inspired to take Music and Drama further in their education, with some going on to develop it into their full time careers.

The Players have also helped to rekindle the love of acting and music for the not-so-young, and have even seen a few of the Priests of the Parish take to the stage!

The Players feel very much part of the Parish community and have helped contribute both financially and with their time to help support the Parish and the Community Centre. We hope to continue to give a significant contribution to Parish life and provide a safe and secure environment for members of all ages, faiths and abilities.

We are always looking for new blood to continue the success of St. Austin’s Players and would love to hear from you or your friends if you think you want to join in. Go to the Contact Us page for more information on how you can become part of the SAP’s family.
